Green Valley Campground is at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, 40 miles east of San Diego in the Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountains at nearly 5,000-foot elevation. The 26,000-acre park features pine, fir, and oak forests interspersed with meadows, creeks, and streams; Cuyamaca Peak reaches 6,512 feet, San Diego County's second-highest point. The park hosts 20–25 mammal species, over 140 bird species, and supports diverse reptiles and amphibians. Trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking wind through the forest, with access to the historic Stonewall Mine.
