Setting
Shady Cove Group Campground is located off a paved mountain road at 6,000 feet elevation within the Children's National Forest. The facility provides three group tent sites, including one accessible option, each accommodating up to 30 people and eight vehicles. Every site includes picnic tables, pedestal grills, and a campfire circle, with accessible vault toilets and drinking water available on site. The short, paved Trail of the Phoenix interpretive path is three miles away at the forest entrance, while rock climbing cracks, mountain bike trails, and Arrowbear Lake sit nearby.
Getting there: From Running Springs, drive approximately one mile on Highway 18 to the Deerlick Ranger Station/Children's National Forest Visitor Center. Turn right on Keller Peak Road and continue about five miles. Follow signs to the campground.
