Setting
Pineknot Campground sits at 6,900 feet in a dense forest of fir, pine, and oak trees at the base of Snow Summit Ski Resort in the San Bernardino Mountains. The site offers dozens of single-family campsites equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills, with flush toilets and drinking water available on site. While RVs can be accommodated, no hookups are provided, though a dump station is located across Big Bear Lake at Serrano Campground. Visitors have direct access to lift-served mountain biking trails, hiking paths, and nearby boating or fishing at Big Bear Lake.
Getting there: From I-10 in Redlands, take Highway 330 to Highway 18 in Running Springs. Continue east on Highway 18 at Big Bear Lake Dam, go straight at the dam and follow Highway 18. Turn onto Summit Boulevard and continue to a block wall. Turn left into the campground.
