Setting
Bluff Mesa Group Campground sits at an elevation of 6,800 feet in a mixed conifer forest with open grassy meadows in the San Bernardino National Forest. Accessed via a dirt road, the single tent-only group site accommodates up to 40 people and eight vehicles on gravel parking surfaces. Site amenities include picnic tables, grills, a campfire circle, and vault toilets. Drinking water, trash collection, and utility hookups are not provided. Nearby trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing, while Big Bear Lake sits less than 10 miles away for boating and fishing.
Getting there: Take I-10 east to Running Springs. Turn onto State Highway 18 and continue to Big Bear Lake Dam. Turn right and continue for 3 miles. Turn onto Tulip Lane and turn right on Mill Creek Road (Forest Road 2N10). Continue 4 miles and turn right on Forest Road 2N86 and continue to the campground.
