Setting
Ribbonwood Campground sits at 4,000 feet in a high-desert chaparral setting of yucca, cactus, and pinyon pine, 16 miles southeast of Palm Desert. Designed for equestrian and standard camping, the site offers fewer than a dozen gravel-spur campsites, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and access to two horse corrals and hitching racks. On-site facilities include drinking water, accessible flush toilets, and showers. The 5.3-mile Sawmill Trail starts inside the campground and connects to the Cactus Spring Trail near the parking area.
Getting there: From Palm Desert, California, take the Palms to Pines Highway/Highway 74 south for approximately 16 miles to the community of Pinyon. Turn left onto South Pinyon Drive and the entrance to the campground is on the right.
