Pinyon Flat is an 18-site, first-come, first-served campground located in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The terrain features open desert landscape near the Santa Rosa Wilderness Area. Hiking access is available directly from the western side of the campground via the Pinyon Trail 5E03.
All 0.3 miles in are maintained for passenger cars. Dirt the whole way in (0.3 miles). Sits on broad, near-level ground.
Santa Rosa Mountain stands 4,032 ft above the site, 3.3 miles south. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off. Night skies measure Bortle 3 -- a dark rural sky. The nearest town, Indian Wells, is 11 mi off.
