Setting
Crocker Guard Station is a historic 1912 Forest Service cabin located 10 miles northeast of Portola at 5,700 feet elevation, set in a meadow near an aspen grove. The four-bedroom house sleeps ten on twin beds and includes a kitchen, dining room, living room, propane lights, a propane cook stove, and a heater. There is no electricity, refrigerator, or indoor running water; an outdoor hand pump provides non-potable fire protection water, and an outdoor vault toilet is on-site. The adjacent 10-site Crocker Campground features free rustic sites with tables and fire rings.
