Setting
Chilcoot Campground sits at 5,100 feet elevation in Plumas National Forest along Last Chance Creek, just downstream from Frenchman Lake. Set in a pine and cottonwood forest at the southern end of the Little Last Chance Scenic Area canyon, the campground features 40 single-family tent and RV sites with paved parking pads, tables, campfire rings, and bear-resistant food lockers. On-site amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, and firewood sales. Frenchman Lake is less than three miles away, offering two boat launches for fishing, swimming, and water sports.
Getting there: From Reno, Nevada, travel north on Highway 395. Merge onto Highway 70 west and continue 5 miles to Chilcoot. Turn north on Highway 284 and continue 5 miles to the campground.
