Lake Berryessa is a sprawling federal reservoir surrounded by blue oak woodlands and rolling hills. Public day-use areas include Oak Shores and Smittle Creek, offering over 200 picnic sites with tables, grills, restrooms, drinking water, and six covered group shelters. The 2.6-mile Smittle Creek Trail links the shorelines, giving access to swimming and fishing. Commercial concession sites around the lake provide additional paid facilities such as camping, boat rentals, and marinas. The nearby Cedar Roughs Wilderness and Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve offer backcountry hiking.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 25 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit.
