Setting
Silver Lake Campground sits at 7,200 feet along the June Lake Loop, bordered by Rush Creek and 97-acre Silver Lake at the base of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Campsites are spread among open areas and aspen groves, with select sites sitting directly on the water. Facilities include drinking water, flush toilets, picnic tables, campfire rings, and bear-proof food lockers. Visitors come to float, fly-fish for rainbow trout, or use the nearby boat ramp, pack station, and wilderness hiking trails. A store, cafe, and trailhead are located within walking distance.
Getting there: This campground is about 350 miles north of Los Angeles and 150 miles south of Reno, Nevada. Take U.S. Highway 395 to its junction with Highway 158. Take 158 for 7 miles to Silver Lake Campground.
