Setting
Sherwin Creek Campground sits at an elevation of 7,600 feet under a canopy of Jeffrey pine next to aspen-lined Sherwin Creek. Located two miles outside Mammoth Lakes, the facility features three loops of native-surface campsites within walking distance of the water, plus a separate loop of secluded walk-to tent sites. The property provides direct access to off-road vehicle trails and a motocross track, while the nearby Valentine Lake Trailhead leads into the John Muir Wilderness. Yosemite National Park and Devils Postpile National Monument are within day-trip distance.
Getting there: Take U.S. Highway 395 to State Highway 203 to Mammoth Lakes. Take a left at the first traffic light in town onto Old Mammoth Road. Drive south 0.9 miles to Sherwin Creek Road. Turn left and proceed 1.5 miles to the campground.
