Leavitt Meadows in CA -- Campground & RV Camping in California

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest campground at 7,800 ft near Bridgeport, CA, sited along the West Walker River in Jeffrey Pine forest. Accepts small RVs (under 24 ft) and tents. Each site has picnic table, fire ring, and food locker. Vault toilets and potable water. Open late May–late September. $28/night single site, $6/night extra vehicle. Popular for fishing and hiking/backpacking via adjacent Leavitt Meadows Trailhead.

Getting there: 1. From Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 17 miles to Highway 108 Sonora Junction. 2. Turn left on Highway 108 and go approximately six miles. The campground is on left hand side of highway.

• Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 16-site campground with the nearest through road 0.2 miles off.
• Flat ground is scarce: under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
• West Fork Walker River runs 0.3 mi off.
• White Mountain stands 3,949 ft above the map pin, 4.4 miles northwest.
