Setting
Gull Lake Campground features 11 campsites set among mature aspen trees at an elevation of 7,600 feet along the June Lake Loop, framed by 11,000-foot Sierra Nevada peaks. Five of the sites sit directly on Gull Lake, and all sites accommodate tents or small RVs under 25 feet. Facilities are minimal, but campers enjoy immediate access to trout fishing, paddling on Mono Creek, and nearby trailheads heading into the Ansel Adams Wilderness and toward local mountain lakes.
Getting there: Gull Lake Campground is about 350 miles north of Los Angeles and 150 miles south of Reno, Nevada. Take U.S. Highway 395 to its southern junction with Highway 158. Take 158 for 2.3 miles to June Lake, then continue 0.4 mile to the campground sign.
