West Cleone Group Camp is part of MacKerricher State Park, three miles north of Fort Bragg along nine miles of Mendocino County coastline. The park features Lake Cleone, a 30-acre freshwater lake created when a brackish marsh was closed by road construction, plus sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, dunes, tide pools, and mixed forest. Gray whales migrate past December through April for shore-based whale watching. The Inglenook Fen Ten Mile Dunes Preserve offers additional exploration opportunities within the park.
