Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area is a 1,000-acre park 1.5 miles north of Leggett on Highway 101, spanning steep canyon bluffs, second-growth forests, and clusters of old-growth redwoods. The South Fork Eel River winds through two miles of the park with riffles, deep holes, and shallow areas for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The campground offers tent and RV sites with restrooms, showers, drinking water, and picnic areas. Approximately 10 miles of hiking trails explore the property, featuring the 225-foot Captain Miles Standish Tree, a redwood over 1,200 years old. Year-round access available.
