Railroad Flat Campground is located 4.5 miles downstream of the historic Briceburg Suspension Bridge on the banks of the Wild and Scenic Merced River. The site features nine total campsites positioned within 100 feet of the water, consisting of three walk-in sites with crushed rock paths and six drive-up sites. Facilities include vault toilets, seasonal port-a-potties, picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof food lockers and garbage cans. The campground serves as a take-out point for whitewater rafts and provides immediate foot access to the Merced River Trail.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Telegraph Hill stands 2,367 ft above the site, 1.7 miles southwest. Merced River runs 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.2 miles off, a 9-site campground. The nearest town, Mariposa, is 9.2 mi off.
