McCabe Flat Campground sits on the shore of the Wild and Scenic Merced River along the Old Yosemite Railroad Grade, downstream from the Briceburg Suspension Bridge. The facility offers eight walk-in sites set 50 to 200 feet from parking via crushed rock trails, alongside two drive-up sites, including a 20-person group site. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker. A designated swimming beach is located on site, alongside vault toilets and garbage services. The location provides direct access to river rafting, gold prospecting, and the Merced River Trail.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Telegraph Hill stands 2,316 ft above the site, 1.8 miles west. Merced River runs 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 10-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites -- 1 hike-in site, one sits on the water. The nearest town, Mariposa, is 7.5 mi off.
