Hawk Campground is a primitive backcountry site set under Monterey cypress and pine trees high in the coastal scrub hills of the Marin Headlands. Accessible only by a steep 2.5-mile hike from Tennessee Valley or a 3.5-mile hike from the Miwok Trailhead, it features three campsites equipped with tent pads, food storage lockers, picnic tables, and a single vault toilet. No vehicle camping or potable water is available on site. Nearby trails connect to Tennessee Beach, Rodeo Beach, Point Bonita Lighthouse, and historic military installations like Battery Townsley and Nike Missile Site SF-88.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
