Campground details
Setting
Texas Flats Campground is an equestrian-friendly group camp along McGilvery Creek in the Sierra National Forest's Bass Lake Ranger District. Divided into four sections named Manzanita, Red Fir, White Fir, and Cedar, each group campsite holds 20 to 30 people and features picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are available on site, but campers must bring their own drinking water, and there are no horse corrals or dedicated horse facilities. Riders use nearby forest roads as trails, while hikers drive northwest to explore giant sequoias on the 1-mile Shadow of the Giants trail.
Getting there: Take Highway 41 north through Oakhurst past Rd. 222 (aka Bass Lake turn off), to Road 632 (aka Sky Ranch Road). Turn right, travel 7 miles, and turn right on FS6S40 towards Soquel Campground. Travel for 1 mile, turn left on 6S08, cross the bridge and continue left through Greys Mt. Campground.
