Mammoth Pool Campground sits half a mile from Mammoth Pool Reservoir in Sierra National Forest, winding through Ponderosa pines and cedars along the San Joaquin River. This primitive camp provides vault toilets, but campers must bring their own drinking water. Individual sites feature picnic tables, grills, and fire rings. Nearby Mammoth Pool Reservoir has a boat ramp for fishing and boating. Hikers can access the 12.7-mile French Trail leading into the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and the 83-mile Sierra Vista Scenic Byway runs through the surrounding region.
