Sawmill Campground in CA -- Campground & RV Camping in California
Sawmill Campground in CA
U.S. Forest Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.
Sitting at an elevation of 5,200 feet, this simple mountain campground features eight first-come, first-served sites that fit RVs up to 16 feet. On-site amenities are limited to vault toilets, with no drinking water provided. Due to a road washout on route 7N23, the property must be accessed via Pine Canyon Road rather than the Old Ridge Route.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Private here -- the nearest through road is 1.0 miles off. A body of water lies 1.1 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 2 -- true dark-sky territory. Burnt Peak stands 580 ft above the site, 1.3 miles south. The nearest town, Elizabeth Lake, is 11 mi off.
September normals 58–79°F, 0.2″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
Set by U.S. Forest Service. Stage 1 and 2 orders change within days -- check the current order before you build a fire.
