Setting
Mountain Oak Campground sits at an elevation of 6,400 feet in the Angeles National Forest, shaded by oak, ponderosa, and sugar pines. The single-loop facility features campsites with picnic tables, grills, bear-proof food lockers, drinking water, flush toilets, and firewood for sale through an on-site host. Non-motorized Jackson Lake is located nearby, offering swimming, canoeing, and fishing for stocked trout and bluegill. Hikers can access local forest trails or connect to the nearby Pacific Crest Trail.
Getting there: From Wrightwood, CA, take State Rt. 2 west 2.4 miles to Palmdale/Jackson Lake sign (County Rt. N4/Pines Highway). Turn right onto Rt. N4 and go 3.1 miles to campground sign. Turn right into campground.
