Setting

Some privacy

Deer Group Campground sits in the San Bernardino National Forest south of Big Bear Lake, set in a stand of shaded conifers accessed by a dirt road. The single tent-only group site accommodates up to 40 people and eight vehicles. On-site facilities include picnic tables, grills, a campfire circle, and vault toilets; drinking water and trash collection are not available. Local trailheads provide access for mountain biking and hiking, including the Seven Oaks Trail toward San Gorgonio Peak. Big Bear Lake is nearby for boating and fishing.

Getting there: Travel I-10 east (State Highway 330) to Running Springs. Turn onto State Highway 18 and continue to Big Bear Lake Dam. Continue 3 miles on State Highway 18 and turn right on Tulip Lane. Turn right onto Mill Creek Road (Forest Route 2N10) for 1.6 miles, turn left on 2N17 for 2 miles then go straight onto 2N08 for .2 miles, then turn left onto 2N45Y to campground.
