Walker Pass Campground sits at 5,000 feet elevation off California State Highway 178, right at the junction of the Owens Peak and Cache Peak segments of the Pacific Crest Trail. Set among pinyon pines and Joshua trees in the Southern Sierra foothills, the facility contains 11 walk-in sites for tent campers and PCT hikers, plus two drive-in sites for car camping. Every site has a picnic table and fire ring. Horse corrals and hitching racks are on site, but there is no drinking water.
Getting there: Follow highway CA-178 approximately 9 miles west from the junction of CA-14 or 35 miles east of the town of Lake Isabella. Walker Pass Campground is just west of Walker Pass and well signed. From highway CA-178 West, the Campground will be on the right. From CA-178 East the Campground will be on the left.
