Oak Flat Lookout is a historic 1934 fire tower perched at 4,900 feet in the Greenhorn Mountains of Sequoia National Forest, overlooking the Kern River Valley. The one-room cabin accommodates up to four adults and contains two twin beds, a thermostat-controlled propane heater, and a kitchen area with a propane range, counter, and sink drain. There is no electricity or running water; supplies must be carried up 40 steep steps or hauled via a pulley basket. Outdoors, the site features a vault toilet, picnic table, and barbecue fire ring.
