Campground details
Setting
Mount Pinos Campground sits at 7,800 feet elevation within a shaded grove of Jeffrey pines on Mt. Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest. Open seasonally from May through November, the site offers 19 single campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, serviced by two vault toilets. RVs over 22 feet are not recommended, and there is no potable water, electricity, or dump station. The campground serves as a base for exploring the Mount Pinos and McGill exploration trails, with views overlooking the Lockwood Valley, Frazier Mountain, and the San Joaquin Valley.
Getting there: Take I-5 north to Frazier Mountain Park Road exit. Go west on Frazier Mountain Park Road for 7 miles to the intersection of Lockwood Valley Rd. Keep right and proceed on Cuddy Valley Road. Continue 5 miles to the "Y" in the road and veer left. Proceed 7 more miles past the first snow and second snow gate past McGill Campground.
