Setting
Hobo Campground sits along the banks of the Lower Kern River in the Sequoia National Forest at 2,290 feet elevation. The layout features 33 total sites, including 21 single tent sites and 2 accessible sites set beneath a dense canopy of shade trees like sycamore, willow, and cottonwood. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, with vault and portable toilets situated nearby. There is no potable water on site, and narrow paved roads limit vehicle lengths to 22 feet. A riverside trail connects north to Sandy Flat Campground and nearby Miracle Hot Springs.
Getting there: From Bakersfield, California travel approximately 37 miles east on CA 178. Turn right onto Borel Road, and drive about 1/3 of a mile until you reach Kern Canyon Road. Take a right onto Kern Canyon Road and continue for 1.7 miles until you see the sign for Hobo Campground, keep right to stay on the driveway. The driveway that splits to the left is the parking lot for Miracle Hot Springs.
