Setting
Boulder Gulch Campground sits at 2,650 feet elevation in the high desert foothills of Giant Sequoia National Monument, a short drive from Lake Isabella. The campground features 58 paved campsites, flush toilets, and a fish cleaning station. Nearby Lake Isabella draws visitors for trout and bass fishing, boating, swimming, windsurfing, and water skiing. The surrounding area offers hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails. The Giant Sequoia Mercantile on-site sells camping supplies, maps, books, and local art, with the broader Sequoia National Forest providing access to giant sequoia groves.
Getting there: From Highway 99 in Bakersfield, California, take Highway 178 east to the town of Lake Isabella. Take Highway 155 around the west side of Lake Isabella for 4 miles to the campground entrance.
