Four campsites sit on the Colorado River's edge within Picacho State Recreation Area, a remote desert reserve 25 miles north of Yuma on California's southeastern border. The area preserves the character of a historic gold-mining site and hosts diverse wildlife including wild burros, bighorn sheep, and migratory waterfowl. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring; potable water and vault toilets support overnight stays. The river access and open desert setting offer seclusion for tent and RV camping.
