Located 15 minutes up unpaved King Peak Road near Shelter Cove, Tolkan is surrounded by large oak trees and offers four tent sites and five trailer campsites. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, bear-proof trash cans, and wheelchair-accessible options, though no potable water or OHV access is provided. It acts as the trailhead for the Tolkan Terrain Park, Paradise Royale Mountain Bike Loop, and Horse Mountain Creek Trail, placing campers near the King Range Wilderness and Lost Coast Trail networks.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
