Setting
Jackass Meadow Campground sits along the South Fork of the San Joaquin River below Florence Lake, shaded by aspen and lodgepole pine near the John Muir Wilderness. Campsites include picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and bear-proof food lockers, supported by drinking water and accessible vault toilets. A 0.7-mile accessible trail runs near camp. Florence Lake, half a mile away, features a store with supplies, boat rentals, a boat ramp, and a ferry connecting to the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. Note: The campground is currently closed for hazard tree removal.
Getting there: From Clovis, California: Take Hwy 168 north for 70 miles to Huntington Lake Campground office at Eastwood. Turn right and follow Kaiser Pass Road approximately 21 miles to Jackass Meadow campground.
