Setting
Dorabelle Campground sits at 5,500 feet elevation in Sierra National Forest, set in a pine, fir, and cedar forest above Shaver Lake. Some campsites offer lake views, and boat mooring is available nearby. Sites include dirt parking spurs, tables, fire rings, and grills, with vault toilets and drinking water provided on site. Five hiking trails branch directly from the camp, including the 2-mile Osprey Cove Trail and the 1-mile Peninsula Loop. Shaver Lake supports swimming, motorized boating, canoeing, jet skiing, and fishing for trout, salmon, and bass.
Getting there: From Clovis: Take Highway 168 north for 49 miles to the town of Shaver Lake. Turn right on Dorabelle Road and go .5 miles to the campground. Campground registration information is at the campground entry station.
