Setting
Wolf Creek Campground sits at 4,900 feet on the north shore of Union Valley Reservoir in Eldorado National Forest. The facility has two loops with single, double, and group campsites, accommodating up to five small tents or two medium family tents per site. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring, and bear-proof food locker. Drinking water and vault toilets are on site. The 4.8-mile paved Union Valley Bike Trail connects adjacent lakefront campgrounds. Water activities on the reservoir include swimming, sailing, boating, and fishing for trout and kokanee salmon.
Getting there: From Placerville, get on Highway 50 and head east for 21 miles to Icehouse Road. Turn left 21 miles to turnoff. Then go three-quarters of a mile to campground.
