Built in the early 1940s as a ranger outpost, Sly Guard Cabin sits at 3,600 feet elevation near Pollock Pines among ponderosa and Jeffrey pines. The shaded grounds include a horseshoe pit and a dirt trail leading south to Sly Park Creek and the Jenkinson Lake spillway. The 1.2-mile paved Cedar Park Trail loop begins steps from the cabin and features an observation deck looking toward the Crystal Range. Swimming and gold panning are popular in the creek, while nearby Sly Park Reservoir offers boating and fishing.
