Little privacy

Situated in Sierra Nevada pine forest at Camp Richardson Resort, this RV-only facility offers 20 full-hookup sites and 78 water/electric sites on Lake Tahoe's southern shore. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with a cooking grate, with bear-proof lockers at select spots. Pets are not permitted. A paved path leads on a 10-minute walk to the beach. Amenities include a marina, general store, deli, bar and grill, and seasonal flush toilets, showers, and dump station. The Tallac Historic Site, Emerald Bay, and Fallen Leaf Lake sit nearby.

Getting there: The RV Village is located 3 miles south of Tahoe City, on California Highway 89 (Emerald Bay Road). From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the "Y"). Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the Highway. From North Shore (I-80, Reno, Truckee) take Highway 89 or U.S. Highway 50 to South Shore.
