Loon Lake Campground is situated at 6,500 feet elevation along the southern shore of Loon Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just west of Lake Tahoe. The setting draws visitors for boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing for rainbow and brown trout. Off-road enthusiasts also use the site to access the nearby 18-mile Rubicon Jeep Trail. On-site facilities include individual campsites, five lake-view picnic areas, a day-use area, picnic tables, grills, campfire rings, bear-proof food storage lockers, and firewood sales.
