Oak Knoll Campground features 49 primitive campsites set in the foothill chaparral along New Hogan Lake. The surrounding 4,400-acre reservoir supports water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and year-round fishing for bass, catfish, and crappie. On-site trails include an easy 3-mile trail connecting to the park office, an 8-mile equestrian loop with a staging area, and bicycle trails on the lake's west side. The nearby Monte Vista Recreation Area features the River of Skulls hiking trail below the dam, and the lake's south shore is a designated wildlife viewing area.
