Acorn Campground sits in the chaparral-covered Sierra Nevada foothills a short walk from New Hogan Lake. The facility offers 128 campsites alongside flush toilets, showers, and drinking water. A 3-mile paved path connects the loops to the park office, with additional mountain bike trails on the west side of the lake. The 4,400-acre reservoir includes boat ramps for water skiing and year-round bass and catfish fishing. Below the dam, the Monte Vista Recreation Area holds the River of Skulls hiking trail and an 8-mile equestrian trail loop. Historic gold country towns lie nearby.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.7 miles off, a 128-site campground. The New Hogan Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon.
