Perched above the south side of Lower Bear River Reservoir at 6,000 feet, Bear River Group Campground offers four tent-only group sites. One site accommodates up to 50 people, while the remaining three hold 25 guests each. On-site facilities include piped drinking water, vault toilets, picnic tables, campfire rings, and a shared group cooking area. The reservoir sits about one mile away for trout fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating. Upriver, the 166-acre Upper Bear River Reservoir provides access to the Pardoe Trail leading into the Mokelumne Wilderness.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
A group campground -- most of them shaded. The Lower Bear River Reservoir shoreline is 0.8 mi off. Mokelumne Peak stands 2,525 ft above the site, 6.7 miles east. The nearest town, Amador Pines, is 17 mi off.
