Setting
Situated at an elevation of 7,400 feet at the east end of Lake Alpine within Stanislaus National Forest, Silver Valley Campground features timbered campsites equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets, but no hookups or electricity. Each site accommodates up to six people, two tents, and two vehicles. Multiple hiking trailheads originate near the campground. Nearby Lake Alpine Resort and Lodge provide additional amenities including hot showers, a laundromat, a general store, a restaurant, and boat rentals.
Getting there: Silver Valley is about 60 miles east of Angel's Camp on Highway 4 toward Lake Alpine. At the east end of the lake, turn onto the side road just east of Chickaree Picnic Area and follow the road around to Silver Valley Campground.
