Setting
Lodgepole Group Campground sits on a high, flat plain near a creek at 7,290 feet in the Stanislaus National Forest, two miles west of Lake Alpine. Campsites accommodate up to six people, three tents, and two vehicles, and are equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets. No electricity or hookups are provided on site, though hot showers, laundry, and supplies are available nearby at Lake Alpine Lodge. The Bear Valley Trail links the area to the historic Emigrant Trail and local lakeshore recreation.
Getting there: From Angel Camp, drive 50 miles east on Highway 4.
