Campground details
Setting
Set on flat, sandy ground shaded by tall ponderosa pines, this 20-site campground accommodates tents, pop-ups, and RVs up to 40 feet. Sites include campfire rings with grills and picnic tables, supported by drinking water, trash collection, accessible vault toilets, and an on-site host. Wild horses frequently pass through the area. Black Canyon Lake is 2.5 miles away for electric-motor boating and fishing. Hikers can access the General Crook National Recreation Trail directly or walk to the historic Pleasant Valley War site where Stott, Scott, and Wilson were lynched.
Getting there: Located 13 miles west of Heber, Arizona. From Forest Lakes, travel east on Highway 260 for approximately 1 mile. Turn south on Rim Road and travel approximately 2.4 miles. The campground is located at the intersection of Rim Road and Black Canyon Road.
