Setting
Kellner Group Site rests at the base of the Pinal Mountains south of Globe, set in the riparian canyon of Kellner Creek beneath sycamore and white oak trees. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940, the facility features historic rock walls and steps. The gated site accommodates up to 25 people and five vehicles under 20 feet, offering five picnic units with tables and grills, a group fire ring, and a vault toilet. Seven miles away, the Icehouse Canyon Day Use Area links to several mountain hiking trails.
Getting there: Located 5 miles southwest of Globe. Follow Jess Hayes Road southeast of Globe to the junction of Icehouse Canyon Road and Six Shooter Canyon Road. Continue on Ice House Canyon for 3 miles to the junction of Forest Road (FR) 55 and 112. Take the right fork and continue following FR 55 for another 3 miles to the site.
