Woods Canyon Lake Group in AZ
U.S. Forest Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.
Located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest at 7,000 feet, this group facility sits adjacent to Woods Canyon Lake beneath a canopy of pine, fir, oak, and aspen. The primitive layout accommodates groups of 70 to 100 people and provides vault toilets and drinking water. Visitors have access to trout fishing on the lake, which restricts motorized craft to electric engines, as well as a shoreline hiking loop, paved roads for biking, and the nearby Rim Lakes Vista Trail along the edge of the 200-mile-long Mogollon Rim.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
The Woods Canyon Lake shoreline is 0.3 mi off. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. A group campground -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Star Valley, is 17 mi off.
September normals 49–74°F, 2.3″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
