Setting
Located at an elevation of 7,463 feet on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, this shade-covered loop sits in a pinyon-juniper forest less than half a mile from the canyon edge. The 50 dry campsites accommodate tents and small RVs or trailers up to 30 feet in total length. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with a grill, with shared flush restrooms and drinking water spigots available nearby. A short walk leads to the historic Desert View Watchtower, an 800-year-old Ancestral Puebloan village site at Tusayan Ruin, a general store, and a gas station.
Getting there: The Desert View Campground is located in the Desert View Area; 23 miles (37 km) to the east of Grand Canyon Village and 28 miles west of Cameron; near the Desert View Gas Station.
