Designated sites only

National Park Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.

Located at an elevation of 7,463 feet on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, this shade-covered loop sits in a pinyon-juniper forest less than half a mile from the canyon edge. The 50 dry campsites accommodate tents and small RVs or trailers up to 30 feet in total length. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with a grill, with shared flush restrooms and drinking water spigots available nearby. A short walk leads to the historic Desert View Watchtower, an 800-year-old Ancestral Puebloan village site at Tusayan Ruin, a general store, and a gas station.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.4 miles off, a 50-site campground. Most of them shaded. A reservoir lies 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Grand Canyon Village, is 19 mi off.

September normals 4674°F, 1.7″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
