Setting
Carter Cove Campground sits along the shores of Nimrod Lake, an impoundment created by the 1942 construction of Nimrod Dam between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains. The campground offers 34 modern campsites and one day-use group picnic shelter. Facilities include a swimming beach, a boat ramp, and a playground. Anglers and boaters use the lake for bass, crappie, and catfish fishing, though water skiing and tubing are restricted to the open waters east of Carden Point. State Highway 7 and Petit Jean State Park are nearby.
Getting there: From Plainview, Arkansas, take Route 60 for 3 miles east to the Access Road. Continue 1 mile south and follow signs into campground.
