Avery Recreation Area sits along the western shore of the Ouachita River and Lake Hamilton, directly below Blakely Mountain Dam. This day-use site features shoreline fishing, an ADA-accessible fishing pier, a boat ramp, a reservable pavilion, and restrooms. Onsite paths include a short paved ADA trail with benches, the Wood Duck Slough wildlife trail, and a major trailhead for the 40-mile Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT).
Getting there: From Hot Springs, AR: Take US 270 west to AR-227 N/Mountain Pine Rd for 6 miles. Continue straight on Blakely Dam road through Mountain Pine and past Mountain Pine school. Drive across the base of Blakely Mountain Dam and Avery Recreation Area will be on your left.
