Gunter Hill Campground sits among hickory and pine trees along Catoma Creek on the backwaters of the Alabama River. The year-round facility contains 142 campsites with electric hookups, including 75 modern sites equipped with concrete pads and sewer connections. On-site amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, dump stations, a picnic shelter, a basketball court, and a playground. A public boat ramp provides direct water access for anglers and boaters targeting crappie, bass, and catfish along the river corridor.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.

Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.4 miles off, a 142-site campground. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. Most sites here have an electric hookup -- 27 sit on the water, most of them shaded. Alabama River runs 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Prattville, is 6.5 mi off.

September normals 6788°F, 3.8″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
